In a move to oust Hon. Emmanuel Omoding who won the Serere County by-election in February 2023, garnering 15,638 votes. An independent candidate, beating the NRM flag bearer, Philip Oucor, who received 13,206 votes in the 2021 general elections and has shifted his aspirations to Pingire county.

Omoding deserted as he deems it fit not to share his resources and logistics with his rivals, a sign that speaks against the NRM primaries decision to have joint candidates rally together.

With a strong track record of attachment and a deep understanding of the county's needs, Okwi Emmah is poised to bring a fresh perspective also rooted in his exposure and international network.
